The Natural World
During a visit to Kenya I was priviliged to meet Some Maasai people and tried to portray the majesty of a Maasai warrior in bronze. I was also pleased to meet some of the Big Five in the Masamara Reserve though not at such close quarters. I was particularly moved by the threat of extinction of the White Rhino. I saw my share of the humble goat who would go to any lengths or height to find food. South of Capetown we enjoyed seeing the incongruity of penguins in the in Africa - such a contrast to Attenborough's "Frozen Planet"

This bronze piece describes the agility of the mountain goat in search of food. Dimensions: H11"X W 6.5" Addition of 5

My interest in how people act in groups is explored in my Order series ; The Queue, Order, Holy Order, Law in Order. In each I have been aware of the comfort , the pride, the strength in numbers while not forgetting the right of the individual to change his or her mind. This body of work has been inspired by people. Their interaction, bonding, working together, sometimes to such an extent that they lose their individuality, that very individuality which moved them to become part of the group.

As a teacher of young children for many years I was very familiar with the importance of play. People often bemoan the loss of children's games of the past. I have portrayed some of these in Ring a'rosies,Hopskotch, swinging round the lamppost, skipping etc.

Life classes led me to portray the human figure in yoga postures and ballet poses.
