Freda Gilmore, now a retired teacher is a sculptor in bronze. She follows a family tradition of art and sculpture. She has exhibited in RUA, USWA USA exhibitions. Private commissions include bronze busts. Busts on public display include Fred Daly (Balmoral Golf Club) Cardinal O Fiaich (Maynooth College)  Robert Shipboy Mac Adam (Culterlann), Other pieces include St Bride'splaque(St. Bride's P.S.) Survival (Children’s Hospice).

Smaller pieces bear witness to her own life experiences – children playing street games, political pieces reflecting life in troubled N.Ireland. Recent pieces examine the conflict between the individual and group. Freda casts her own work from clay stage to bronze. Last year a piece depicting children playing from the series “No Toys Just Us” toured Ireland as part of the art collection of Finance and Personnel
